- About Us
We have been focusing our learning on art and geography for the past few weeks in topic. In art, we have learning about Picasso's abstract art and have learned the skill of monoprinting. We created a newly minted coin design which combined all of our new knowledge and skills. Why not ask the children what additive and subtractive printing means? Can they remember how many names Pablo Picasso has?
Last week, we were lucky enough to enjoy a Judo taster session. We had a great time trying out some different moves and learning a little about the mantra of Judo! A flyer has been sent home with your little one with enrolment details if they are interested in joining.
Thank you to all parents and guardians who came to watch us at Muddy Mayhem, we hope that you enjoyed spectating as much as we enjoyed getting dirty! We are a few weeks into our new reading program, which is going well in school. Reading books to go with the scheme have still not arrived, a further update will be sent when they do. Any reading that you can do at home will be an added bonus!
We are really impressed with how the children have settled into life in Y2! They have come back and shown great diamond power by working independently and ruby power by being kind to their peers. Our topic this term is 'The Queen'. We have enjoyed learning about our Queen and also Queen Victoria. Our subjects will be taught in blocks this year so we have two weeks of history which will be followed by two weeks of art. Why don't you test us on our new learning and ask how many facts we can tell you about Queen Elizabeth II and Queen Victoria?
Our P.E. day is a Wednesday and this will be taught by Mrs Thompson. The children will be getting changed in school from now on so please ensure that kit is brought to school in a bag for that day.
Lunch breaktime is on the field which does get rather boggy. Wellies are advised and when it is very muddy the children without wellies will have to play on the tarmac.
Parent telephone calls will take place in the week commencing 27th September. Please contact the office to make an appointment.
Reading books will be allocated in the coming weeks once we have assessed the children. Homework in Y2 consists of 10 minutes of reading per day and 10 minutes times tables practice on TT Rockstars. Logins will be sent out for this soon!
